Hustler magazine seeks an experienced Features Editor
From the first day Hustler hit newsstands, Larry Flynt, the fearless publisher and founder of LFP, challenged America's interpretation of the First Amendment. Flynt's style was showcased in a series of closely watched lawsuits that pitted freedom of speech against pornography and his career-long battle against censorship helped build an entertainment enterprise out of the most controversial magazine in America.
Hustler magazine covers, reports, comments on and defines the adult news, art, entertainment, lifestyle, music, fashion, politics and personalities that characterize current culture. Founded in 1974, Hustler magazine reaches more than 500,000 readers each month and is published by LFP, Inc. along with more than 30 additional titles and creates content for distribution via broadcast, digital media and mobile platforms. Other ventures either wholly owned by or licensed by Flynt or LFP, Inc. include the Hustler Clubs and Hustler Hollywood Stores and Hustler Apparel, DVD production and Hustler Novelties divisions as well as the Hustler Casino located in Gardena, California.
Reporting to the Editorial Director, the Features Editor is a key asset in the continued success of LFP Publishing.
Primary Responsibilities
• Edit Articles submitted to HUSTLER Magazine to maintain structure, content, and accuracy.
• Generate article concepts and work with assigned writers to finalize articles
• Create headlines, sub-heads, and photo captions for feature pages
• Maintain contact with and assign feature articles to freelance writers and photographers
• Acquire photography to accompany articles including collecting pertinent model releases and photo-credit information
• Generate invoices for acquired material- written and photography
Job Requirements:
• 4+ years of experience in publishing working as a writer and/or editor
• Strong knowledge of politics and daily news
• Diligent attention to detail
• Proficiency with software: Quark, Photoshop, MS Word, Excel
• Experience with a Men's publication is preferred.
